Are you hesitant to read poetry? Do you feel like you can’t create your own poetic masterpieces? Maybe you are afraid to share your poetic masterpiece? Join this one time lesson as we “spring into poetry.” Not only will you uncover the rich meaning behind “Spring, the sweet spring” by Thomas Nashe, but you will also learn techniques for dissecting poems to uncover poetic devices. This class offers thought-provoking conversation, learner engagement and independent writing time. It is my hope that all who take part in this class grow in appreciation for poetry.
Learning Goals
Students will dissect a poem, "Spring, the sweet spring" by Thomas Nashe, and uncover the rhyme scheme as well as learn poetic devices such as alliteration, personification, onomatopoeia, repetition, and imagery. In addition, students will learn about the Haiku poem and venture to write their own Haiku.
