Homework
1 hour per week. 1. Vocabulary Review Practice 5-10 new words by drawing a picture or writing them in a sentence. 2. Lyric Translation Translate a short part of a song we learned in class into English. 3. Pronunciation Recording Record yourself saying 3-5 new words and bring it to class. 4. Create a Sentence Write one simple sentence using new vocabulary.

1. Vocabulary Worksheets Students match Spanish words to pictures or fill in the blanks with the correct words. 2. Lyric Translations Students translate small sections of song lyrics from Spanish to English. 3. Pronunciation Practice Students listen to recordings and practice repeating Spanish words or phrases. 4. Sentence Building Students create simple sentences using vocabulary from the songs.
Projects
Project 1: Lyric Art Poster Students pick a favorite line from a Spanish song and create a poster. They’ll add the English translation and explain the meaning. Goal: Reinforce vocabulary and song meaning. Encourage creativity. Project 2: Song Presentation Students choose a new Spanish song and present it. They explain the meaning and share 3-5 key words. Goal: Build vocabulary. Practice public speaking. Final Project: Karaoke Performance & Reflection Students perform their favorite song from class. After, they share their favorite words and reflect on what they’ve learned. Goal: Show language progress. Celebrate learning with a fun performance.

Course Overview: This 6-week course combines the joy of singing with Spanish language learning! Through popular Spanish songs, students will learn pronunciation, vocabulary, and conversation skills in a fun, interactive setting. The class is designed for beginners, and no prior knowledge of Spanish is required.

Learning Goal: By the end of this course, students will be able to confidently pronounce basic Spanish words, use common vocabulary and phrases in simple conversations, and form sentences through engaging with popular Spanish songs. They will improve their listening and speaking skills, while developing a love for learning Spanish through music and fun activities.

What Will Be Taught?
Basic Spanish pronunciation
Key vocabulary related to everyday life (greetings, food, hobbies, etc.)
Sentence structure and simple phrases in Spanish
Listening and speaking skills through music
Cultural aspects of Spanish-speaking countries through their music

Topics Covered:
Spanish Pronunciation: Understanding and practicing basic sounds.
Everyday Vocabulary: Words and phrases related to daily activities.
Building Sentences: How to construct simple sentences in Spanish.
Conversational Skills: Practice everyday conversations using song lyrics.
Cultural Exposure: Discovering cultural elements through Spanish music.
Song Interpretation: Understanding the meaning behind lyrics and applying new vocabulary.

Class Structure:
Duration: 6 weeks (40 minutes per session)
Format: Each class is divided into four sections:
Warm-up: Introduction of the song of the week and pronunciation practice (10 minutes).
Sing-Along: Students sing the song as a group and focus on pronunciation and rhythm (10 minutes).
Vocabulary & Discussion: Analyze the lyrics, introduce key vocabulary, and practice sentence-building (10 minutes).
Interactive Activity: Fun games or role-playing to apply what was learned (10 minutes).

The class will be taught using a mix of:
Songs: Each class will feature a Spanish song, and students will sing along as they learn new words and phrases.
Interactive Games: Games will be used to reinforce vocabulary and help students feel comfortable speaking in Spanish.
Discussions & Role-Playing: Through guided discussions, students will practice using new vocabulary in real-life scenarios.

Lecture: Brief explanations of key concepts (around 10 minutes each class).
Games: Students will engage in vocabulary-building games to reinforce their learning (e.g., flashcard challenges, matching activities).
Group Discussions: We’ll break down song lyrics and discuss their meaning in a relaxed group setting.
Karaoke: Each student will get a chance to sing individually or as a group.
Q&A: Students are encouraged to ask questions during and after class, and I will provide individual feedback when needed.

Unit 1: Sing, Speak, and Learn – The Basics of Spanish Through Music
Lesson 1:
Introduction to Spanish Sounds
 Description: In this first lesson, students will be introduced to basic Spanish sounds. We’ll go over how to pronounce vowels and common consonants, practicing with simple exercises. A fun warm-up song will help the class get comfortable with their first Spanish words.

Lesson 2:
First Song & Vocabulary
 Description: Now that the students are familiar with Spanish sounds, we’ll introduce the first full song. Students will sing along and focus on vocabulary from the lyrics, like greetings and basic everyday words. We’ll also play a vocabulary matching game to reinforce learning.

Vocabulary: greetings and basic words
Singing practice with pronunciation focus

Lesson 3:
Expanding Everyday Phrases
 Description: In this lesson, we’ll build on our vocabulary with more everyday phrases like "How are you?" and "Please." A new song will introduce these phrases, and students will practice speaking and singing along to improve their fluency and comfort with the language.

Common phrases for everyday conversations
Singing practice with focus on phrases
Conversation practice 
Lesson 4:
Rhythms and Sentences
 Description: This lesson focuses on combining words into short sentences. We’ll look at the lyrics from the song and practice building sentences from them. Students will engage in a sentence-building activity and continue singing for pronunciation and rhythm.

Sentence-building from lyrics
Sentence-building games
Singing practice with focus on rhythm and flow
