It's the year 2030 and you've been living on the hi-tech space station Helios Atlas. Your time aboard is almost over, but something has gone terribly wrong and your time in space is being cut short. Will you make it back to Earth safely, or will you perish on the Helios Atlas? Work with your peers to solve puzzles and find clues to get back to Earth safely. This escape game uses addition and subtraction skills to solve puzzles as learners make their way through the space station to get back to Earth safely. Learners should have previous knowledge of addition and subtraction of larger numbers (3-4 digits) for this activity. The first few minutes of class will be spent going over expectations. The next couple minutes we will go over what an escape game is and how this one works. Then students will work as a team to find and solve puzzles and clues involving addition and subtraction. They will use these clues to find the code to get back to Earth! I will be there to provide assistance as needed, but will not be solving the escape with learners. Due to the nature of Escape games, the class may be slightly longer or shorter depending on how quickly students move through the clues.

There are several third-party tools used in this escape activity. All links go directly to a puzzle or activity created specifically by me, specifically for this class.
The escape activity has been created by me in Genially - an interactive slide presentation used to gamify the activity. There are links to puzzles both within the Genially, as well as puzzles in Google Slides/Sheets, and the following:
Typeform: Students will answer questions written by me, so gain a clue.
Puzzel: Students will solve two puzzles (a math crossword, and a calculation matching puzzle), created by me, to gain clues.
Snotes: Students will use this to manipulate an image to get a sentence clue-created by me.
Jigsaw Planet: Students will put together a digital jigsaw puzzle, created by me, to get a clue.
No accounts are required for any of the elements of the Escape game.

Hello! I am Miss Kelly, and I love teaching! I am a former public school teacher, turned stay at home mom/online teacher. I am mom to 3 little ones, triplets, and I love that I get to work from home and be with them more!
I will be hosting a majority math-based classes, though I will add in language arts or science classes as well from time to time.
I am a certified teacher, moving out of the classroom and into a small group setting. I love working with small groups of students on interesting topics and making learning fun and hands on. I believe students learn best when they can work on activities hands-on and even more so if it can relate to their life in some way. I also love to teach/learn through games!
