What will be taught? Students will learn how to solve two-step equations using both visual models and traditional mathematical methods. They'll gain a clear understanding of how to isolate the variable and check their solutions. What topics will you cover? Understanding and identifying two-step equations Using bar models and algebra tiles to represent equations Solving equations using inverse operations Word problems involving two-step equations Checking solutions for accuracy How is your class structured? The class will begin with a quick warm-up to activate prior knowledge, followed by a mini-lesson using slides and examples. Students will then work through guided practice problems with support, and finish with independent practice or a collaborative game. How will you teach? I use a mix of direct instruction, visual modeling, and interactive activities. I break down each step clearly and give students time to ask questions and try it themselves. What's your teaching style? My teaching style is supportive, upbeat, and student-centered. I believe in building confidence through small wins, clear explanations, and plenty of encouragement. How much will learners get to interact with you? Students will interact with me throughout the class—asking questions during the mini-lesson, solving problems together, and getting feedback during practice. We’ll use interactive slides, guided discussions, and math games to keep learning fun and engaging.
Learning Goals
By the end of the class, students will be able to:
Identify and solve two-step equations using inverse operations.
By the end of the class, students will be able to: Represent two-step equations using visual models such as bar models or algebra tiles.

I am a certified middle school math teacher with over 6 years of experience teaching grades 6–8 in public school settings. I specialize in making abstract math concepts more concrete and accessible through visual models and student-centered strategies. I have taught two-step equations for several years as part of my core curriculum and have supported students at various skill levels, from those needing extra help to advanced learners. In addition to my classroom experience, I’ve led small group math interventions and created interactive resources to support math instruction. My goal is always to build confidence, critical thinking, and a love for math in every student.
