Students will have fun using their observation and inference skills to solve 2 mystery cases.

Class Experience

In this one time course students will learn how to use their inferencing and observation skills to solve two mystery cases. 

I will review the vocabulary word, Inferencing, by playing a game and with discussion. I will then introduce the mystery case to the students and they will read about each "suspect" in the crime. We will practice highlighting text evidence to make an inference. The students will discuss as a class who they think committed the crime and explain their reasoning. I will...

Students will gather text evidence from reading the suspect handouts provided to make an informed conclusion.

I'm a certified 4-8 generalist teacher in Texas and I have five years of classroom experience teaching grade 6 in public schools. I'm currently teaching grade 5 in an American International School.

Homework will not be assigned.

Students will need a sheet of paper/ notebook and a pencil. I will also provide reading handouts.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I will asses the students ability to inference by their discussions and ability to provide evidence.

45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
