Reading Skills: Decode Multisyllabic Words

In this full year ongoing course, students will review phonics patterns, then use them to build, read, and write multisyllabic words. We will also learn/review a few sight words (so we can read sentences)!
During this class, we will use whiteboards, sorts, and games to gain lots of exposure to words with phonics patterns. With practice, learners will become fluent in reading these words!
Before taking this class, students should be able to confidently read one-syllable words using phonics patterns. Examples of these types of words include "cash", "sleep", "star", "earth", "brake", "track". This is an ongoing class, so each week's lesson is stand-alone and does not require pre-requisite knowledge from previous classes in this course.
An optional independent practice activity will be provided weekly to extend learning at home.

I have a fun, consistent, and familiar teaching style that allows students to feel safe and comfortable in the classroom.
I do not cancel for low enrollments. If your student is the only learner in class, I will still plan to teach.
I accept transfer requests whenever possible.
Per Outschool policy, I do NOT refund for missed class. 

Content for this course will cycle every calendar year in September. Learners are welcome to join anytime. Parents are responsible for keeping track of when their child was enrolled to avoid repeated lessons, if desired. Learners are invited to stay in the class for repeated lessons when useful and applicable.

Week of May 5-May 10: Digraphs "wh", "ph", “gh” (i.e. "whirlpool", "elephant", "laughter")
Week of May 12-May 17: Prefixes "re", "de" (i.e. "recharge", "decompress")
Week of May 19-May 24 **No Saturday class– You will not be charged**: Patterns “ti”, “ci” for /sh/ (i.e. “vacation”, “musician”)
Week of May 26-May 31 **No Monday class– You will not be charged**: Present and past tense word endings “ing”, “ed” (i.e.“dancing”, “danced”)
Week of June 2-June 7: Pattern “tu” for /ch/ (i.e. “picture”, “mixture”)
Week of June 9-June 14: Prefixes “un”, “pre” (i.e. “unlikely”, “prepared”)
Week of June 16-June 21: Suffixes “-less” “-ness” (i.e. “hopeless”, “happiness”)
Week of June 23-June 28: Roots “rupt”, “spect” (i.e. “disrupt”, “respect”)
