Keep singing the songs!Class Experience
In this 3 day camp we will sing, move and talk about everything winter. We will learn songs to familiar tunes about the cold, shovelling snow, ice skating and yummy hot chocolate. We will use simple musical instruments (everything in your kitchen cupboard) to help us learn fast and slow beat, stopping and starting together, what a rhythm is and how to keep a beat. We will act out stories about winter activities, and use scarves (a dish towel will do) for movement stories. We will need our favourite stuffie to sing a quiet song after we’ve worked hard shovelling and trudging through the snow. Each class we will begin with a hello song using each child’s name. My teaching style is fun, engaging, interactive and I am enthusiastic and kind. No previous music experience is needed! Songs we will sing: C-c-c-c cold Skating Hot Chocolate Sledding Snowmen Winter Walk Snow Shovel Bundle Up Please see supply list for kitchen items needed for instruments. Please see my intro video if you need ideas.
Learning Goals
Your learner will learn several songs to familiar tunes about all things winter. We will learn how to keep a beat, what is a rhythm, how to stop and start together, how to keep a fast and slow beat. We will learn all the different ways we can use our rhythm sticks (wooden spoons) to keep a beat. We will talk about winter and even if you don’t live where there is snow, we will talk about what activities you can do in the snow. We will learn what the word “trudge” means when we go for our winter walk. After 3 classes your learner will be singing all about the cold, snow and hot chocolate.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Music from Greenville University
Hello prospective parents and guardians! My name is Mrs. Carol. I live in Canada.
I have my B.A. in music specifically Vocal, as well as ORFF (rhythmic based method of teaching music) training. I have been teaching music for 25+ years. I have created and taught an early years music program in Montessori schools. I have taught voice, piano, early childhood music in my own studio, as well as teaching for several summers at a symphony music camp teaching the ORFF method.
Studies have shown that engaging in music classes from a young age can make you smarter in reading and math! Early years music classes can set you up to learn an instrument, but even more than that it can set you up for a life long love and appreciation for music.
Through singing, simple instruments (don’t worry, your kitchen cupboard has all you need for class) and movement, your child will learn skills such as listening, focusing, taking turns and all the while having a whole lot of “hands-on” fun making music.
My classes will be engaging, inclusive and will aim to ignite the JOY of music-making. I will be using the curriculum Smarty Pants Music that I created after teaching young children for many years.
My husband, who is also musical, and I have been married for 34 years. We have a daughter and son-in-law and I am a proud “Mammie” to 2 exceptional, beautiful grandchildren, Amos and Anna.
I hope to see your child in my classes so that we can Ignite Joy, Get Smarter and Make Music together!
