Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 1
If your child loves music they will love this class. It will be a fun hands-on interactive class. We will learn all about rhythm patterns and what the difference between keeping a beat and a rhythm pattern is. We will sing, move and play simple rhythm instruments. Please note this is NOT a live class.

No previous music experience is needed. My teaching style is filled with enthusiasm, kindness and I am very upbeat and engaging.

The class format will look like this….

A video of myself singing and teaching about loud and quiet in music. It will be hands on with instruments and moving and singing and each video will have lots of songs and interaction that I just know your child will ask when can we do music class again?

Here is an outline of what this video will include

Hello song
Finger play
Echo copy cat clapping
Standing up song
Teach concept (eg rhythm pattern's)
Main theme song using concept learned
Movement song
Instruments in a song
Stuffie song

*Each class please provide the following:

If you have rhythm instruments that is great but if you don’t these will work just fine!

Rhythm sticks - wooden spoons or anything you can tap together, even pencils
Shaker - fill a small container with rice, beans, beads or popcorn kernels
Drum - a pot or plastic container with a round bottom
Scarf - fashion scarf or dish towel that can wave through the air for movement

Hello prospective parents and guardians! My name is Mrs. Carol. I live in Canada.

I have my B.A. in music specifically Vocal, as well as ORFF (rhythmic based method of teaching music) training. I have been teaching music for 25+ years. I have created and taught an early years music program in Montessori schools. I have taught voice, piano, early childhood music in my own studio, as well as teaching for several summers at a symphony music camp teaching the ORFF method.

Studies have shown that engaging in music classes from a young age can make you smarter in reading and math! Early years music classes can set you up to learn an instrument, but even more than that it can set you up for a life long love and appreciation for music.

Through singing, simple instruments (don’t worry, your kitchen cupboard has all you need for class) and movement, your child will learn skills such as listening, focusing, taking turns and all the while having a whole lot of “hands-on” fun making music.

My classes will be engaging, inclusive and will aim to ignite the JOY of music-making. I will be using the curriculum Smarty Pants Music that I created after teaching young children for many years.

My husband, who is also musical, and I have been married for 34 years. We have a daughter and son-in-law and I am a proud “Mammie” to 2 exceptional, beautiful grandchildren, Amos and Anna.

I hope to see your child in my classes so that we can Ignite Joy, Get Smarter and Make Music together!
