If your child loves music they will love this class. It will be a fun hands-on interactive class. We will keep the same format and routine for each class, so that your child learns what to expect, but each week we will learn one new element. Each child will be engaged individually, as they are ready. We will follow the seasons and learn musical concepts such as keeping a beat, what is a rhythm pattern, loud and soft, high and low, smooth/gentle and jumpy music and more.......... This is a sample format of what one class in January might look like: Hello song to each child by name Fingerplays Copycat and echoing Talk about snow Fun engaging movement song about snow called “Winter Wonderland” Main theme for class introduced (song called “Skating”) Talk about what is ice skating Instruments introduced (everything in your kitchen cupboard) Song with instruments Talk about smooth/gentle and jumpy music Movement song with scarves (dish towel will do) Song with favourite stuffie Recap of new song about ice skating Goodbye song to each child by name No previous music experience is needed. My teaching style is filled with enthusiasm, kindness, and my goal is to engage each child. CLASS EXPECTATIONS/MUTING: I do my best to encourage participation from learners enrolled in my classes. I prefer to leave learners unmuted, but I understand that there are instances where learners need to be muted due to background noise that cannot be prevented. Parents, please feel free to mute your learners at your discretion. As the teacher, there are also instances where I will need to utilize the mute function. If there is background noise that may be distracting to other learners enrolled in the class, I will advise the student that they are being muted to limit the background noise. At the beginning of each class, I will also advise the learners of my expectations. Students are required to raise their hand and wait for their name to be called before speaking. To be respectful of all learners and to give everyone a chance to participate, it is important for students to abide by these rules. I will use visual and verbal cues in an effort to remind young learners of these expectations.
Learning Goals
My hope is that your child will learn to love to sing, clap, play instruments and engage in music. However, not all kids do this right away, they sometimes learn by observing, and more often than not you will hear your child sing the songs and clap the beat or rhythms well after the class is finished. My goal is to engage your child to feel comfortable doing this on screen or off screen.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Music from Greenville University
Hello prospective parents and guardians! My name is Mrs. Carol. I live in Canada.
I have my B.A. in music specifically Vocal, as well as ORFF (rhythmic based method of teaching music) training. I have been teaching music for 25+ years. I have created and taught an early years music program in Montessori schools. I have taught voice, piano, early childhood music in my own studio, as well as teaching for several summers at a symphony music camp teaching the ORFF method.
Studies have shown that engaging in music classes from a young age can make you smarter in reading and math! Early years music classes can set you up to learn an instrument, but even more than that it can set you up for a life long love and appreciation for music.
Through singing, simple instruments (don’t worry, your kitchen cupboard has all you need for class) and movement, your child will learn skills such as listening, focusing, taking turns and all the while having a whole lot of “hands-on” fun making music.
My classes will be engaging, inclusive and will aim to ignite the JOY of music-making. I will be using the curriculum Smarty Pants Music that I created after teaching young children for many years.
My husband, who is also musical, and I have been married for 34 years. We have a daughter and son-in-law and I am a proud “Mammie” to 2 exceptional, beautiful grandchildren, Amos and Anna.
I hope to see your child in my classes so that we can Ignite Joy, Get Smarter and Make Music together!
