We will start each class with vocal warm-ups, sing songs and learn some musical terms and proper singing techniques. Each class will include Vocal warm-ups Songs Rhythm exercises Each class will highlight topics such as: Breathing techniques Pitch Enunciation Dynamics Note values and recognition We will use familiar childrens song such as Week of Feb. 7 - Topic - Pitch Song - My Bonnie Lies over The Ocean Week of Feb. 14- Topic - Breathing Song - A Dream is a Wish your Heart Makes Week of Feb. 21 - Topic - Dynamic Song - I’ve Got no Strings Week of Feb. 28 - Topic - Enunciation Song - Do - Re - Me My teaching style is engaging, warm and encouraging. The goal of the class is to provide an environment where the student can learn vocal technique while becoming more confident in their voice with other students. The main goal is to have fun! This is a good beginning for private vocal lessons. As this is a group class, students will be muted but will have the opportunity to unmute and sing for the class once they feel comfortable and confident. This is a great way to gain feedback and to learn from each other, but it will always be in a supportive environment as to the students comfort level. There is no previous experience needed. Just a great attitude and a love of singing!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Music from Greenville University
Hello prospective parents and guardians! My name is Mrs. Carol. I live in Canada.
I have my B.A. in music specifically Vocal, as well as ORFF (rhythmic based method of teaching music) training. I have been teaching music for 25+ years. I have created and taught an early years music program in Montessori schools. I have taught voice, piano, early childhood music in my own studio, as well as teaching for several summers at a symphony music camp teaching the ORFF method.
Studies have shown that engaging in music classes from a young age can make you smarter in reading and math! Early years music classes can set you up to learn an instrument, but even more than that it can set you up for a life long love and appreciation for music.
Through singing, simple instruments (don’t worry, your kitchen cupboard has all you need for class) and movement, your child will learn skills such as listening, focusing, taking turns and all the while having a whole lot of “hands-on” fun making music.
My classes will be engaging, inclusive and will aim to ignite the JOY of music-making. I will be using the curriculum Smarty Pants Music that I created after teaching young children for many years.
My husband, who is also musical, and I have been married for 34 years. We have a daughter and son-in-law and I am a proud “Mammie” to 2 exceptional, beautiful grandchildren, Amos and Anna.
I hope to see your child in my classes so that we can Ignite Joy, Get Smarter and Make Music together!
