In this small group class we will take turns reading a selection of e-books directly on the screen in a relaxed and warm environment. We will focus on phonemic and phonetic awareness, high frequency words and reading comprehension.

In these small group reading classes we will focus on increasing your child's reading skills in a way that will positively encourage their interest and excitement to read! We will focus on having fun as each child takes turns reading. My teaching approach is a learner-centered approach within a relaxed and warm environment. Each class we will look at a selection of e-books via the Epic website directly on the screen. These books are organized based on subject and reading level. Each child will take turns choosing the reading subject. The topics are learner-directed each week. Some examples of topics and themes may include science, geography, animals along with fairy tales and other fiction based stories. We will focus on reading phonetically; decoding words by blending letter sounds. We will also focus on sight words, high frequency words, sentence structure, building confidence in reading and responding to questions. During and after the reading we will have an engaging discussion about the story and speak about what each child is interested in reading about next.

Students will increase their reading skills in a way that will positively encourage their interest and excitement to read.

I am very passionate about teaching in a positive and meaningful way. I have been teaching English and reading to children online since 2017. I have experience teaching every level of learning in a variety of subjects for students in every age group. I have achieved a Bachelor of Commerce, a post graduate certification in Event Management, Teaching English as a Foreign Language certification, TESOL Foundational and Advanced certification.
In the classroom I focus on genuinely engaging the learner and ensuring they are getting as much as possible from the experience. I have experience teaching many different types of lessons including; reading, writing, phonics, grammar, and public speaking. I also have experience teaching math, history, geography, science, social studies, project management, singing and general tutoring.
Prior to teaching I have worked in a variety of customer focused roles with several years experience in event management. I have managed hundreds of events including conferences, weddings and other social and family celebrations.
