Class Experience
In this four week FLEX course, students will help Mario and his friends skip count. Students will learn to skip count by 2s, 5s, 10s, and 3s. Skip counting is actually a great basis for multiplication. Skip counting by 3s is rare, but a fun additional skill to add to your child's math skills. Each week a video is sent out with the lesson. I use Google Slides to help teach each lesson. Songs will be included to help aid your child in skip counting. Worksheets will be included with each lesson for your child to complete. Kahoot! Game links will be sent each week for additional practice. I will ask for your child to do a mini project each week to demonstrate their understanding of each week's concept. Week 1: Skip counting by 2s Week 2: Skip counting by 5s Week 3: Skip counting by 10s Week 4: Skip counting by 3s Students are ready for this class if they can count to 100 and identify numbers from 1-100. **Please note: This is not a Mario game. Pictures of Mario and friends are on my slides. I make up stories to go along with the pictures.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to skip count by 2s, 5s, 10s, and 3s beginning and ending at different intervals on a number line.

Meet the teacher
Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome! My name is Rebecca Lockhart. I have my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and I am a certified teacher for grades K-8. I have taught all subjects in the public schools, ESL (English as a Second Language) online, and I currently homeschool my three children ages 5-11. I also teach a Nature Studies course in my area and facilitate two book clubs on a weekly basis.
I began my teaching career nineteen years ago. It is difficult for me to narrow down my favorite subjects. I just enjoy teaching. I guess if I had to peg down a few, my favorite subjects would include grammar, reading, math, and history. I started my own book club over six years ago to feed my love of consuming books. I recently began a book club for my oldest child and several of her friends to help them find great novels and learn skills to help increase their reading ability, comprehension and enjoyment. I love to write. Many call me a grammar nerd. I have dreams of being an author when I grow up. ;) Math is a skill I am passionate about. I believe a solid foundation early on can really help a learner succeed in math the rest of their life. I am also passionate about Nature Study and learning about the world around us. I believe, in a world full of technology, that it is essential and very beneficial for students to get outdoors and observe the world around them.
I have been teaching online since spring of 2019 and I joined Outschool in the summer of 2020.
I enjoy meeting students from all around the globe. Once you have been in my class, you will realize I'm upbeat, maybe a little silly at times, but I am excited to get my students to learn and most importantly love learning.
I hope to see your child soon!
