What will be taught? Basic Scratch Programming: Students will learn core coding concepts like motion, loops, variables, and event handling. Game Design: Students will create fun, interactive games like the Turkey Trot race and a Thanksgiving catching game. Storytelling with Code: Learners will code interactive Thanksgiving stories, building characters and narratives. Designing Worlds: Students will design their own festive worlds using backgrounds, sprites, and interactive elements. How is your class structured? The class is structured in 4 interactive lessons delivered over two weeks, each lasting approximately 45-60 minutes. Each lesson begins with a brief introduction to the concept of the day, followed by a step-by-step guide to building the project. Throughout each lesson, students will be encouraged to apply coding concepts in a hands-on way, reinforcing learning through practice. How will you teach? The class will be taught using interactive tutorials in Scratch, with students coding along as I guide them through the process. I will demonstrate the key concepts using live coding sessions and then allow students to try coding on their own, providing feedback and assistance as needed. Each lesson includes engaging examples and opportunities for students to customize their projects, ensuring they feel connected and motivated.
