Homework
While there's no formal homework for this class, I encourage you to continue exploring and experimenting with Scratch throughout the week. Creating new projects and building on what you've learned in class is a great way to reinforce your skills and develop your creativity. Feel free to share your projects with me for feedback. Let's keep the momentum going and continue to have fun with coding and animation!"

Class Experience

US Grade 1
Beginner Level
Together, we'll explore the magical world of Scratch and create projects that will make even the most tech-savvy wizards jealous. We'll start with the basics and work our way up, so don't worry if you're a complete beginner.

-Learn coding through hands-on projects in a personalized environment
-Use Scratch, a beginner-friendly programming language, to create interactive projects
-Bring your creative ideas to life with engaging stories, games, and animations
-Discover design basics and visual language for effective digital projects
-Get individual attention and guidance from an experienced instructor
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Prior coding experience is not necessary, but any prior knowledge you have of coding will be helpful.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Familiarity with basic computer skills such as clicking, right-clicking, dragging, and dropping is necessary.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

To ensure a smooth learning experience, it's recommended that you have access to two devices, one for Zoom and one for Scratch. If you're only using one device, make sure you have someone available to help you switch between the Zoom and Scratch websites.

Having a mouse can make the experience more comfortable, but don't worry if you don't have one. You'll be fine as long as you're comfortable with basic computer skills like drag-and-drop and right-clicking, even without a mouse.
Learning Goals
-Develop a passion for coding and animation as a tool for self-expression and creativity.
-Develop creativity and innovation by experimenting with different design and animation techniques.
-Build problem-solving skills by using coding logic.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
While it's possible to complete the project without an account, you won't be able to save or share it on the Scratch website, https://scratch.mit.edu/. To get the most out of the class, I recommend creating a Scratch account before the Zoom meeting. Additionally, having two screens - one for Zoom and one for Scratch - and using the Chrome browser are helpful. Ensure your learner can switch between sharing their screen and viewing the teacher's shared screen if they only have one device. This can be done using the screen sharing feature in Zoom.
Supply List
-A laptop or desktop computer with a webcam, microphone, and speakers (Chromebooks and iPads are not recommended, unless you plan to use them as a secondary screen for Zoom)

-Stable internet connection with a minimum speed of 3mbps

-The Chrome browser is recommended for the best learning experience

-Having two devices (one for Zoom, one for Scratch) is helpful for seamless navigation and multitasking during class
