This class is led by an occupational therapist, sharing handwriting help techniques to make handwriting practice easy and fun for all learners here on Outschool. Not all learners are ready for the demands of handwriting-- but all learners can learn about proper letter and number forms at any age. Join today! In this ongoing class, learners review a number in standard (numerical) form and word form each week. Week of Feb. 7th: 0, zero (CURRENT) Week of Feb. 14th: 1, one Week of Feb. 21st: 2, two Week of Feb. 28th: 3, three Week of Mar. 7th: 4, four Week of Mar. 14th: 5, five Week of Mar. 21st: 6, six Week of Mar. 28th: 7, seven Week of Apr. 4th: 8, eight Week of Apr. 11th: 9, nine This ongoing schedule cycles back to zero. Say it-- Learners participate in identifying a match of a number on-screen in both standard form and word form. Identifying the single-digit number of the week hidden among multiple digits. Make it-- Learners engage in molding the weekly number in standard form using play dough. Forming simple lines to construct proper number forms following live demonstration. Write it-- Learners receive instruction on-screen to write the number of the week along primary lines in standard and word form. Improve size, spacing, and overall handwriting quality. Count it-- Learners return to the molded number of the week and count its value using a tactile method. Improve number awareness and promote math skills. A weekly worksheet (1) is provided. Printing is suggested, but not required. Primary lined paper is required if the worksheet cannot be printed. Primary lined template available upon request. Disclosure: I am a licensed Occupational Therapist. I have received specialized handwriting training. While my classes aim to help learners with pre-handwriting and handwriting skills, these classes should not be used in place of therapeutic interventions. Please seek medical advice for any developmental concerns.

👋 Hello New Outschool learners and families,
I am Shaayna - The Handwriting Tutor and I am focused on making handwriting help accessible to all, remotely. My sessions provide onscreen demonstrations and continuous feedback to improve handwriting samples in live time. Since joining the Outschool team, I have written with over 1,500 learners from all around the world! 🗺️
As an occupational therapist I am sharing over a decade of experience in the form of simple yet helpful handwriting tips and techniques online. My handwriting philosophy is progress over perfection, because written communication should be functional and purposeful. If you can communicate ideas through the written language and someone else can read your message, we’ve succeeded. 📝
By Fall 2025, I will expand from just handwriting to provide sensory play and life skills classes. Sensory play classes for Outschool's youngest learners will focus on pre-handwriting and cognitive skills surrounding letters, numbers, shapes, and colors. Life skills classes for Outschool's oldest learners will review basic self-care skills as well as other instrumental skills of daily life with an emphasis on independence and safety in the home and community. I am so excited for these additions, and I hope you are too! 🤩
When I am not online providing handwriting instruction, you can find me creating handwriting help content for social media. There I share more handwriting help resources such as engaging handwriting prompts and interactive fine motor activities. I truly enjoy connecting with parents and professionals focused on facilitating an enriching childhood.
In addition to my role as THT, I am a few other fun things…
・a wife, mom, step-mom, and fur-mom 🫶
・a homeschooler to my neurodivergent middle-schooler 📚👧
・a playmate to my pre-schooler 🧸👶
・a native South Floridian, who often visits WDW 🍊🛣️
・an avid coffee drinker and Girl Scout cookie snacker 🍪☕️
・an English and Spanish speaker 🗣️
Join me in one (or more) of my Outschool classes to learn more about how I can help with your handwriting, sensory play, and life skill needs.
