Intermediate Level
SUMMARY: This class is a continuation of class series "Russian Language Course"*. If you have taken my other classes: "Russian Language Course for Starters", "Russian Language Course for Beginners", "Russian Language Course for Intermediate I: Speaking, Reading, Writing", this is the next class in the series. In this course, children will be speaking, reading and writing in Russian. Children will have opportunities for speaking in Russian: together with the teacher, as a class, while working in pairs, and while playing games. Children will read short dialogues and comics: in the Textbook, during classroom games, while completing tasks in their workbooks. Children will practice writing during classroom and online games and while completing tasks in their workbooks. Students will get exposed to proper grammar and will be encouraged to use it properly. COURSE PROGRESSION: 1. Prerequisite/Test-in**: Russian Language Course for STARTERS: Speaking, Reading and Writing. 2. Prerequisite/Test-in**: Russian Language Course for BEGINNERS: Speaking, Reading and Writing. 3. Prerequisite/Test-in**:Russian Language Course for INTERMEDIATE I: Speaking, Reading, Writing. 4. This class ----> Russian Language Course for INTERMEDIATE II: Speaking, Reading, Writing. (**You learner may skip some courses if he/she can pass the entrance test: speaking, reading and writing. Entrance test may take an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes. Testing is done through my one-time tutoring class for $20 per each test). NEW FEATURE: - Children get to learn more about a topic of travel in general and Russian culture through exploring the lesser known cities and geographical areas. - There are new audio tasks that will test learners ability to understand foreign speech. - Students will be completing interesting writing activities in class on paper and digitally. This will give learners an opportunity to learn to type in Russian. TEXTBOOK AND WORKBOOK: The hard copies of the Textbook and the Workbook could be obtained on Amazon and the electronic versions of the Textbook and the Workbook could be obtained on the author's website. All Textbooks come with audio files for additional studying. Occasionally, the teacher will send additional printouts for classroom use. Please note, that all Intermediate II classes use the same Textbook and Workbook. CLASS PARTICIPATION and POLICY: - Annotation: This class also uses the Annotation Tool in Zoom. When the teacher shares the screen and asks children to circle or find objects or write on the whiteboard, go to the Zoom's tool bar, select "More", and choose "Annotate" option. - Video: At the beginning of each class, according to the Outschool policy, all learners must turn their cameras on to be verified by the teacher. Students benefit more from this class by keeping their camera on at all times. It allows the teacher and other learners to track facial expressions and to establish good connection and communication. We share our work and play games that require learners to keep their video on. - Audio and Microphones: In this class we will speak a lot and practice speaking. I encourage everyone to keep their mics on. (I will occasionally mute some or all students if they have a background noise). -Cancellation: If there are less than 3 students enrolled in a particular section it will be postponed or cancelled. - Distractions: We all want our children to engage in learning, have fun and make friends. Please, ensure that your child is focused on the class and is not distracted by anything that can rob them of the learning experience. - Additional Device for Online Practice: Every other meeting, learners will need to bring an additional device or open a separate window on the computer to complete online tasks: games and writing exercises. - Russian Keyboard: Because your child will complete online writing exercises every other meeting, please, install the Russian keyboard on your learner's device(s). COURSE'S CONTENT: This "Intermediate II" course is 32 weeks longs. This course consists of 6 Parts for easier scheduling, payment and rest breaks. This class is Part 1 of 6. This Part 1 consists of 4 weeks. Each week has 2 meetings. Each week has a new topic and weeks build on each other. There is an unofficial quiz at the end of week 4. See the Syllabus for more information. Please, message me if you have any questions about this course. * Contact me, if you are unsure what level your child is. ** Learners can test into this class if they think they know the contents of the "Intermediate I" course already. If you would like your learner to take this course while skipping the "Starter", "Beginner", and "Intermediate I" courses, message me for details.
