🪆Welcome to "Russian Language Course for Starters!"🪆

This class is excellent for:
☆ children who are just starting to learn Russian;
☆ learners who have a little of prior experience but have difficulty speaking Russian;
☆ curious souls who want to try learning a foreign language.

🧑‍🎓 Our Goals for this PART 1:
➔ say your name and ask for a name of a person;
➔ say your age and ask for a person's age
➔ describe another person as a boy or a girl, say their age and mention what they have or what they are doing;
➔ learn numbers 0-10;
➔ ask "what is it?" and "who is it?";
➔ learn 20+ common nouns in Russian;
➔ understand when a noun is in plural form;
➔ write your name in Russian;
➔ write words and complete dialogues in writing in Russian.

📓 HOW WILL THE CLASS BE FACILITATED:
🌟 In this class, we use printed materials to engage with the content and retain knowledge. Learners use their Textbook and Workbook in each class.
🌟 Most classes will begin with a warm-up activity such as game or gamified review.
🌟 New vocabulary and grammar are presented in a communicative way with pictures, slides, objects and gestures. Students learn new concepts by listening first 👂, looking at difference in words and sounds 👀, and trying to understand what is going on 🧠. A lot of learning in the beginning happens by repeating after the teacher 📣.
🌟 Students may ask questions anytime during the class.
🌟 Children will have opportunities for speaking in Russian: together with the teacher, as a class, while working in pairs, and while playing games.
🌟 Children will read short dialogues and words: in the Textbook, during classroom games, while completing tasks in their workbooks.
🌟 Children will practice writing during classroom games and while completing tasks in their workbooks.
🌟 Students will be exposed to proper grammar and will be encouraged to use it properly.
🌟 Teacher calls on all students during the class on a rotation and volunteer basis as well as randomly. Children naturally like to participate, to share what they think and be involved - so we will try to let everyone have turns as much as possible as time permits.
🌟 Most of the learning is in Russian language, but the teacher uses English to help explain classroom procedures and to fix technical difficulties.

🖍 It's been observed that students who review the material in between the classes have better learning outcomes 🖍

    Привет, ребята!

    Меня зовут Ms Tanya and I am a native Russian speaker 🇷🇺

    📚 I teach Russian language Courses for English speakers: 1 set of Courses for learners 8-13 years old, and another set of Courses for teenagers 13-18 years old. Learners can start from absolute 0 and progress through the Course series to higher-Intermediate and Advanced Levels.

    I also teach additional Russian language classes and help students in private classes.

    ✏️ My lessons with Outschool learners tend to be very structured and each activity has its purpose. Though I consider myself to be a calm individual, I receive a lot of feedback from parents and learners that my lessons are fun and engaging. It brings me joy seeing learners progress and learn something new.

    👩‍🎓 I have a vast teaching background working in daycare, public schools, private school, church, winter and summer camps, and with in-home tutoring students. I worked with children as young as 1 year old and as old as 17!
    I have earned two years towards BA in Elementary Education from Moscow State Pedagogical University (МПГУ), in Russia. Then I moved from Russia and finished my education in the United States. I hold an AA in Elementary Education (Community College of Aurora, CO) and a BA in Education with Emphasis on Elementary Math (MSU Denver, CO). I have worked at Denver Public Schools for 3 years. And now I teach on Outschool.

    ⭐️I love reading books, learning new languages (I am primarily learning Spanish), playing musical instruments (cello is my favorite), and making delicious vegetarian meals for my family.

    🕰️ My office hours are (in EST/US-New York):
    Monday and Wednesday: 9 AM-7 PM
    Tuesday and Thursday: 9 AM-3 PM

    I often reply to messages and requests outside of my office hours, but if you notice that I read your message and have not replied to it yet, I will message you back as soon as I can.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

    ❓Q1. What level is my child? She has been studying Russian for a while now.
    ✅A1. Since there are different curriculums and teachers, it's hard to tell what level your child is without meeting the child. Ms Tanya is offering an assessment for a flat fee of $20 per learner to see which of the classes that she is offering would be the best fit for your child. The assessment will last anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour depending on the child’s level.

    ❓Q2. Do you have a certain availability for a group class? Private class?
    ✅A2. I try to schedule classes at different times of the day. If you don’t see a time that fits your schedule, let me know by sending me a private message. I might have an opening that is just right for you.

    ❓Q3. My child is already pretty good at speaking Russian but needs help with reading/writing/grammar. What class should I sign him/her up for?
    ✅A3. If your child is already fluently speaking Russian or is rather good at speaking Russian but cannot read or write, you will need to sign up for bilingual classes. Ms Tanya is currently offering Russian as a Foreign Language group and private classes ranging from levels A0 to B2. Bilingual curriculum at this time is only available through private classes.

    ❓Q4. Do you offer Russian immersion group classes?
    ✅A4. At this time, I only offer 1-on-1 Russian immersion classes for kids ages 8 and up.

    ❓Q5. What levels of Russian do you offer for ages 8-13?
    ✅A5. I offer 4 main levels of Russian language for this age group.

    🟡 Russian Language Course for STARTERS: Speaking, Reading and Writing.
    Focuses on basics: alphabet, name, age, colors, numbers, objects, telling time, minimal grammar needed for topics we cover. We don't just learn new words but practice speaking in structured and impromptu situations. There is a heavy focus on reading and producing the right sounds. In this class, students are also practicing writing in Russian mainly by copying and later on by creating different word variations.

    🔵 Russian Language Course for BEGINNERS: Speaking, Reading and Writing.
    This course builds on everything learned in the Starter course. Children already read in Russian much better than before. We start exploring grammar more heavily as well. The topics include everyday actions and routines, weather, going to a store, birthday parties and more. We are expanding vocabulary very rapidly and pay much attention to grammar.

    🔴 Russian Language Course for INTERMEDIATE I: Speaking, Reading, Writing.
    This course is for children who understand the basics of Russian language - they can read Russian somewhat easily, they know how the sentences are structured, where grammar can be applied and why, and have a rather wide vocabulary base. In this course, children explore harder grammar concepts and learn to talk on topics such as: vacations, hobbies, places in town, Russian folktales and culture, time of the year and seasons, numbers up to 1 million, going to a doctor, cooking food and recipes, and more.

    🟢 Russian Language Course for INTERMEDIATE II: Speaking, Reading, Writing.
    At this level, students read with almost no problems and understand and guess almost everything spoken to them on familiar topics. They speak rather well using phrases and full sentences. They are still practicing grammar, pronunciation and expanding their vocabulary. This course explores topics of traveling to other countries, planet Earth and other planets, cultures and geography of Russia, modes of transportation, and more. New grammar is added to expand the students' ability to make complex sentences. Students will stay at the Intermediate level for a while as they are practicing their grammar, grow their vocabulary and practice their speaking skills. Depending on how much practice they get or put in, some will progress to Advanced levels in as little as 1 year while it may take others a few years.

    ❓Q6. What levels of Russian do you offer for ages 13-18?
    ✅A6. I offer multiple levels of Russian language for this age group.

    Levels 1-3 are super basic and teach basic vocabulary and grammar. Students will start to understand how Russian language works and will be inspired to learn more. CEFR A0-A1.

    Levels 4-10 are beginner levels - they teach standard vocabulary and introduce to most frequently used topics. Students are acquiring a solid base for all future Russian language learning. CEFR A1.

    Levels 11- 18 focus on broader topics and help students talk about the world around them: calendar and routines, hobbies and nature, at the doctor, traveling and countries. CEFR A1-A2.

    Levels 19 - 30 are for those who are seriously studying Russian and who one day would want to either use Russian for their career, sports or travel opportunities. These classes are focused on rapidly building vocabulary, extensive and aggressive use of grammar, and increasing stamina with speaking and writing/typing. CEFR A2-B1.
