Class Experience

What if you were told that you could make a fortune just by pushing a button on a box? But pressing this button will cause the death of someone somewhere in the world . . . someone you did not know. Would you push the button?

Students will read and comprehend Matheson's tale of greed and temptation. Learners will discuss the story and discuss why this plot is timeless. Literary elements such as foreshadowing and irony will be highlighted.

This class is scheduled for one hour, but the time may be extended based on the pace of the reading. It is important to me that students walk away confident in what they have learned. For this reason, I will not rush the students during the learning process. I also provide a worksheet with links that extend the learning process beyond the classroom.
