US Grade Kindergarten - 3
COURSE BREAKDOWN *YOUNGER CHILDREN MAY NEED ADULT HELP DURING THIS CLASS.* *STUDENTS MAY NOT COMPLETE THEIR BOT BY THE END OF CLASS. PLEASE ASSIST THEM AFTER CLASS IF NEEDED.* - 3 min. Introductions - 5 min. Teacher will explain the who, what, why, how, when and where of recycling. For example, What can be recycled? Paper, plastic, metal and glass can be recycled. We will discuss each of these questions in class and Teacher will show examples of each and read excerpts from the book, "Making a Difference Recycling Materials." By Sue Barraclough. - 35 min. Students will build their own recycle bot and share it with the class. - 2 min. Wrap up/Goodbyes Interactive and happy classroom! Highly qualified and experienced teacher with a B.S.Ed.! PLEASE NOTE -As of Dec. 27, 2020 the new class minimum is 2 students. If there is only one student enrolled 24 hrs. prior to the start of class they will be asked to transfer to another class. Thank you for understanding. - The times stated above are just a guide and are subject to change. - The robot we make will not be able to move on its own, it will only look like a robot. EXPECTATIONS FOR PARENTS - Please assist your child with scissors, glue, tape, etc. as needed. - Please assist your child with the mute/unmute button as needed. EXPECTATIONS WITH MUTING - Teacher will MUTE ALL when appropriate to minimize background noise. For example, when Teacher is explaining a topic. - Teacher will UNMUTE ALL at certain times of class to add an interactive element.
Learning Goals
The student will learn the who, what, why, how, when and where of recycling. The student will have fun creating their own robot out of recyclable materials.

- The student may need to repeat the class to gain mastery.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
The student will most likely need to use scissors during class to make their recycle bot. Please assist your child as needed.
Supply List
Please bring recyclable materials to class, for example, cereal boxes, toilet paper rolls, water bottles, aluminum cans, etc. but NOT GLASS. Also bring scissors, tape, markers, etc.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and I'm certified to teach grades 1st-8th and I'm TEFL certified. I've been teaching children for 12 years. I currently work as an Educator at Kennedy Space Center! I've also taught 2nd grade. I've done long-term substitute positions (grades 1st-6th, all subjects). I've worked in the 3 year old room at KinderCare. I've worked at tutoring centers, including Kumon and Huntington (ages 3-18 reading, writing and math). I've taught on other online platforms, including VIPKid and Magic Ears (ages 3-14, teaching English Language Learners). I also have 3 children of my own!
