This will resemble a traditional "circle time" in a regular preschool classroom. We will have an opening greeting song, do calendar time, dress our weather dolls, practice the ABC's, count, and work on shapes and colors. Each week we will have an interactive story where the children will invited to help tell the story. We will use a lot of repetition and a book list will be provided. Your child will be able to "read" the books on the list from memory and I will reinforce the direction of reading and word recognitions skills during story time. I will also use puppets and other props to make this time fun and engaging.We will end with a goodbye song. This class is geared towards children aged 3-4 years old. Topics/themes Week one, (Week of February 1): Homes and families/Goldilocks and the Three Bears from the Random House Book of Nursery Stories by Helen Craig Week two ( Week of February 6): Making friends/ Frog and Toad Are Friends by Arnold Lobel Week Three ( Week of February 13): Community and Neighbors/Good People Everywhere by Lynea Gillan Week Four (Week of February 22): Building/The Three Little Pigs from the Random House Book of Nursery Stories by Helen Craig
Learning Goals
Students will learn the basic shapes, and learn/review their colors. They will learn the days of the week, and the concept of yesterday today and tomorrow. They will learn to recognize numbers and verbally count up to ten. They will practice one to one correspondence and basic equations for up to five objects. They will practice recognizing as well learning the sounds of each letter of the alphabet. They will also learn how to spell their own name and be introduced to a few basic sight words.Other Details

As a teacher I seek to keep that flame of inspiration burning brightly. I particularly enjoy teaching through art, story telling, rhymes, and child directed projects.
