US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
Beginner Level
This exciting and beneficial 8-week online tutoring course will be taught in a fun-filled way that builds a greater knowledge and comfort towards literacy concepts. Tutoring sessions/classes will include songs, videos, books, printing activities, sight word review, reading practice, and engaging art projects. Acquisition of these skills will make students ready for reading. I pride my classes and teaching approach on providing rich learning experiences embedded into a variety of activities that capture my students' attention. I also like to include adequate time for teacher and student dialogue, sharing ideas, and opportunity for students to ask questions. The general format of my classes include: * Begin with a song * Engage in discussion/brags and drags ~ student shares one event or experience that they are proud of or simply something that they really enjoy, such as a favorite food (brag) OR one event or experience that they are struggling with or simply something that they dislike (drag) * Complete first literacy activity (concept ~ letters of the alphabet including video, discussion, worksheets/paper for printing and drawing) * Complete second literacy activity (concept ~ sight words including video, discussion, worksheet/paper for printing and drawing) * Movement Break (song or video to stretch/sing) ~ No supervision or equipment is necessary * Complete third literacy activity (concept ~ reading) including book talk/discussion, listening to read aloud books, use of mini books to practice reading and coloring) * Show and Share (students show the art projects/printing that they created during class and share a verbal description/read what they created) * End with a song SPECIAL NOTE **Parents/guardians are kindly asked to print the mini books, cut them out and staple them together prior to class. Thank you! ** I will begin the 8-week course by introducing basic concepts and scaffold the teaching/learning to build on what students have mastered in the previous class. This will allow for a natural and personalized learning trajectory for students. By the end of the course, students will have accomplished a solid understanding of important literacy skills that will help them to be ready for reading. **BONUS ~ By the end of this course, you and your child will receive an alphabet chart, four sight word lists, and two books to enjoy again and again. PLUS, your child will receive a Certificate of Completion for bringing their hard work, positive attitude and their smile to each and every class. ** Do you have questions? I have answers...send me a message and I will gladly support you in any way I can. I look forward to seeing your child(ren) in my class!
