As a licensed reading specialist and an experienced teacher, I am excited to work with your child on reading. Fostering a love of reading at an early age is crucial for developing life long readers. My energetic personality and passion for reading drive my instruction to make for a fun filled class! I will be structuring the class so that your child has time to work on word work, reading, and writing to offer a balanced literacy approach. Through the use of games and manipulatives, I can vary the activities and instruction to help keep your child engaged and excited about coming to our book club. I hope to see your child soon!
Homework Offered
There will be no assigned homework in this class. Families are strongly encouraged to read the assigned weekly book every day to help build fluency and reinforce reading strategies. I will provide an optional activity related to the story of the week should families wish to have something extra to practice during the week. Any child who completes the activity is encouraged to send it to me for feedback.
Assessments Offered
Grades Offered
Your child will need
- pencil and paper
- coloring materials such as crayons or markers
- optional: dry erase board/markers

The teacher will provide any handouts or materials needed for the class on a week by week basis. Should a handout be needed for the class, it will be posted in our classroom page at least 24 hours prior to the start of the class. It is helpful to have a printer to print materials/handouts; however, often times they can be recreated by using whatever paper you may have at home.
As a mom of 3 young children and an experienced teacher and librarian, I always encourage families to preview the books used in the class. Please make sure they are appropriate for your child and you feel comfortable with the content of the story.
