Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 7
Are you interested in helping your learner boost their vocabulary and strengthen reading skills at the same time? Come explore this weekly ongoing class to improve your learner's vocabulary, using Wordly Wise Book 6, 4th edition.

This class is designed to be an ongoing class which means you can join in any time. The vocabulary words will not build on each other so you can come have fun with words when it works for your schedule. Each week will be a new set of words and the schedule is listed below.

Our format will be the same each week, but words and reading passages will change each week. Remember, since they don't build on each other, you can jump anywhere in our schedule of meetings.

Each week we will meet to learn new words as outlined in the book. Your learner will have a list of 15 words per lesson and we will focus on gaining the meaning of those words through context clues, affixes, parts of speech, etc. I love to engage learners with a variety of activities and games to make the learning process fun and help them remember the words!

We also will explore reading passages to help us be word detectives as we hunt for our new words and further strengthen our understanding of the words. Please see the list of passage titles in the weekly schedule.

As a licensed teacher with almost 20 years of teaching experience, I try to help students make connections with the words and find helpful ways to remember their meanings. Homework will be an optional activity for families who wish their learner to complete additional work with the weekly words. I am happy to review and check any complete assessment after our weekly class. Feedback with be provided to the family via the Outschool message platform.

I hope you are ready to love words as much as I do!

All weeks will follow a similar routine/structure for the class and the class structure and dates are listed below.
