Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 6
My approach to teaching is to develop fun, engaging and memorable experiences for children. We learn better when we have a memorable experience that we can remember even after the class is over.

This course will teach your child the beginning strategies of reading. This will include:

-Letter identification
-Letter sounds
-Sight words
-comprehension strategies

In this class, I will use a slide show to present the lesson and ask the students engaging questions while we work through it. There will also be games and videos mixed in to keep the class lively.

Each student will get a chance to speak and engage in the game if they choose. I like to make classes open for discussions and I am flexible to topics the students want to elaborate more in.

Students should come to class ready to have fun and should have access to either paper and pen or a whiteboard and marker to engage in class! Children always have the option to just listen in as well if that is their preferred way of learning.

*If your child needs a fidget today to help them learn, please feel free to let them have something in their hands or they can stand if they need to.

Hello!

My name is Michelle. I am so glad you found me on Outschool! Let me tell you a little about myself.

I have been teaching since 2009. I have my masters degree in special education. I have the patience and passion for working with students who have special needs. I have worked closely with the autism community since 2012. I have taught students in grades kindergarten through sixth grade. I have worked closely with children who have been diagnosed with Dyslexia, ODD, Dysgraphia, Autism, ADD, ADHD, Downs Syndrome and those who need social and emotional support. Every child is different and I love teaching students strategies to use not only in academics but as life skills as well. I am an avid reader and writer. I have self-published two books and I am working on more. I love my job because it is challenging and rewarding!

I'm also an online certified TESOL and ESL teacher. I teach children in China how to read and speak English. I've taught over one thousand classes and over three hundred students via this platform. This has given me a tremendous amount of experience teaching children online.

In addition, I have taught children in a preschool setting. I know how important it is to be lively and energetic in order to keep young children's attention. It's also important to be patient and understanding. This experience helped me see the world through the eyes of a child!

I believe that every child is different! Each child has his or her own strengths. Each child has his or her own personality. Each child has the potential to learn and grow in different ways. It is my goal as a teacher to meet those different needs of each unique child.

I will be teaching a variety of classes on Outschool that will instill a love of learning about the world around us. I love teaching many different subjects. My favorite is Language arts.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three children! I am the mom a 8 year old, 7 year old and 4 year old. I love spending time showing them the world around them. Arts and crafts is one of our favorite past times!

Thank you for taking the time to learn all about me! I can't wait to meet and get to know your child!

Have a great day!
