Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Beginner Level
The course is designed to cover all the beginning reading foundational skills for learners to become successful readers. It goes beyond the basic decoding format, instead it provides opportunities for young learners to comprehend literature and make appropriate inferences through various questioning strategies. It will offer numerous opportunities for learners to build fluency, extend their vocabulary and the meaning of new words. Numerous read-aloud activities will be performed so that children will enjoy listening to age-appropriate, quality children's literature and engage in activities that may include role play, art, and more. Young scholars will have time to speak and express their thoughts about their learning and be able to make personal connections with the poems and literature.

The presentation of the Readers' Workshop will be presented 2 times a week with the educator present. The students will interact with the instructor throughout the 18-week program. It will be a safe learning space that young scholars will enjoy. My instructional approach will use presentation slides, mini lectures, literacy games, and ongoing repetition of key concepts in effort for learners to build upon. Supportive coaching is carried forth throughout the entire program. The instructor strongly believes in building parent partnerships to ensure scholars success. Therefore, it is highly recommended for parents to support their children with the enrichment assignments that will be presented each week so students will have opportunity to strengthen their basic skills and be able to successfully matriculate through the program. As the instructor, I am requesting parents to invest a minimum of 20 minutes a day with their students outside of regular class meetings to support your learner with assignments such as; reading with your learner.

I am eager to serve young scholars and to know that they are excited about learning to read. At the end of the 18-week session, there will be an online celebration for the scholars, and parents are encouraged to attend to celebrate the accomplishment of your scholars.
