In this one time class geared to ADHD thinkers, students will learn the basics of public speaking with an emphasis on preparation through drawing creative doodles, sketchnoting, and culminating in a public speaking activity.

Class Experience

This class is being guided by an experienced speech and debate coach.  Students will learn the basics of public speaking through the format of sketching out their ideas before 3-d mapping the walking area of a "public" speech (in this case the "public" speech will be in front of the other Outschool learners in class and the instructor. No prior knowledge/ experience with sketchnotes or public speaking necessary. 

Public speaking topics that are covered may be based off student generated ideas. Topics NOT ALLOWED are: abortion, gender identity, drug legalization

How is your class structured? WARM UP: doodle challenge; topic generation; basics of public speaking lecture (no more than 15 minutes of lecture in this course); quick-write practice topic sketchnote; movement mapping; speeches 

What's your teaching style? Teaching style is ADHD & autism friendly
