In this six week course, students will: Week 1: -learn the history of food trucks and draw and design a food truck of the time period of their choice -have to decide what type of food might have been served on the food truck of the time period they chose -present their drawings to the class and explain their choices in design based on the time period Week 2: -brainstorm their favorite foods and come up with a creative title they could give to advertise their food on a food truck -discuss creative and unique food truck menus -create their own menu with 4 food entrees and 2 side items with creative and unique names as well as their name of their food truck Week 3: -share their menus from week 2 -brainstorm what they think the inside of a food truck looks like and what they would need on a food truck to prepare their menu -learn what is required for a food truck to function as well as food truck floor plans and truck designs -design their own inside of their food trucks Week 4: -observe some of the outside designs of the food trucks as well as where the trucks are parked to take advantage of to sell the food -create and design their own food truck to include the following: slogan, logo, hashtag -decide where to park their food truck in what geographic location Week 5: -share their food trucks creations as well as one menu item they created to represent their food truck

students will have handouts for each challenge each week sketch book and colored pencils recyclable materials (cardboard, cans, plastic bottles, shoe boxes) craft supplies (to decorate their food trucks) white paper food items to make a recipe of their choice based on their food truck

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

My name is Melissa Smith , and I am proud to be a Parkway Early Childhood Panda!! I am from St. Louis, received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Dayton, and my Masters in Education from Missouri Baptist University. I am certified to teach Early Childhood, Early Childhood Special Education, and Elementary Education. This will be my seventh year at Parkway Early Childhood after four years at Kirkwood Early Childhood Center in Early Childhood Special Education.
I have a true passion for working with our youngest learners!! Helping each child progress in all areas of their development—academic, social, language, and motor—is a challenge that I am honored to accept daily. I strive to create a community of learners that nurtures this growth in a positive, fun environment.
Personally, I have been married for 21 glorious years and have three fantastic children who are 20,17, and 14 years old and attend Parkway Schools and Mizzou. We love to watch our kids' sports—tennis, volleyball, basketball, baseball, and swim! I also enjoy reading, cooking, music, relaxing at the beach, and spending time with friends and family.
