In each of the 12-weekly classes, students will learn ancient to modern time: colors, motifs, elements of styles, furnishings and more. In addition, student's will be able to identify color schemes & many of the materials used in that time era. This course views design styles from all over the world as it relates to the different time periods. Each week students will design a modern public or private area that uses elements of each time period studied. Students can choose to do a simple furnishing floorplan OR a design concept/mood board. Students will work with me, a Professional Interior Designer & educator, to be able to build a resource book of historical styles & relate them to today's interior design styles. This course is a great follow-up to the Interior Design High School Semester or Interior Design 101 Skills Semester Courses. What to expect: 🎥 11 Lessons, video in a slide show format taught by Ms. Katie. Also included, attached class outlines, drawings of historical motifs/furnishings and other YouTube videos for taking virtual tours of historical interiors. 📝 Recommended Weekly Assignments/Design Projects & a final project. No quizzes/tests. Teacher assesses by participation, turning in assignments on time and final projects. ✨ Certificate of Completion. Families can use this course to meet academic needs and reports/grades available by request. Important Notes: 🎥 Students need cameras or a verification check from Outschool as well as good audio to participate in this course. If there is no verification check, students must attend first class with a video check-in to be able to watch class recordings. Class make-ups are available per parent request. 👩🏫Teacher availability is limited to a set number of live classes each school semester. Please check-out the self-paced version of this course or join the waitlist, if live class is not available. 👨⚕️ Class will begin promptly, starting with a discussion/presentation of last week's assignments by the students. Then, I will give a visual presentation of that week's topic. Finally, we will have a discussion and explanation of the next assignment. ❓ Questions, concerns? Message Ms. Katie anytime. Some YouTube videos show famous art from the Renaissance, which include partially nude statues. Also, some of the YouTube clips, particularly the PBS tours of interiors by Rick Steves, which aired on primetime television, mention colonies, slavery and Christopher Columbus as part of describing the art and interiors. Teacher selects videos that would be shown on public television at prime time and tries to focus on the interiors, not the details of history. Parents are welcome to contact teacher if you have any concerns.
