US Grade 1 - 4
Reading tutoring session for lower elementary aged students. Tutoring session will utilize slides and games. Sessions will be interactive and, if needed, repetitive to solidify your child's understanding. The initial session will involve getting to know the student, what their difficulties are, where they are succeeding, so that I can create a plan moving forward. Each tutoring session will be 30 minutes and involve a lesson for 10 to 15 minutes depending on the age of the student, and then practicing new skills along side past skills learned. Practice could be reading a text, having a student vs teacher competition, or playing a game. Please let me know your specific concerns and needs. Should your child be struggling with guessing, inability to sound out words, difficulty with irregular (sight) words, spelling, reading fluency, comprehension or confidence, I can help! As someone who is dyslexic myself, I understand how difficult it can be to learn to read, the frustrations and shame that often accompany reading. I am here to help your child overcome those difficulties, as I had help overcoming mine. With a Master's in Elementary Education, experience as a classroom teacher, and participating in the 2 year LETRS science of reading training, I have the knowledge and skill to assist your child. If you do not see a time that works for you, please message me and I will do my best to accommodate that preference. I offer sessions between 7am and 5pm MST on Fridays.
Learning Goals
Learning will be dependent on students needs and will be established at an initial session. Common learning goals include sounding out words, irregular (sight) words, comprehension, and fluency.
