US Grade 2
Students will receive customized one-on-one private tutoring in early literacy skills. Parents will get to choose what the student focuses on based on current areas of need. These areas include: -Letter names and letter sounds -Short and long vowels -Phonemic awareness -Reading cvc words -Sight Words & more! During the first class, I will assess the student on what skills we are targeting. With this assessment, I will create a customized tutoring plan to fit their needs. I will provide materials both for the tutoring session and after for additional practice.

Hello! My name is Monica Scala and I am so excited to meet your learner! I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Psychology from Miami University and I currently hold a K-12 Intervention Specialist Teaching License. I have been a teacher for ten years! For seven of those years, I was a Special Education Teacher in a public school, teaching children in high school through kindergarten. The majority of my career, I focused primarily on lower elementary grades. For the past three years I have been teaching virtually and I absolutely love the online classroom!
With my background in Special Education, I have learned that all students learn in different ways. My teaching style is very interactive, I love to teach with movement, hands on activities, songs, and games.
I live in Cincinnati, Ohio with my husband and two children. I am a mother to a 4 year old little boy and a 1 year old daughter. In my free time you will find me outside; I love to hike, visit parks, and check out local farms.
