Dear Parents and Learners, Welcome to private chess tutoring, where students can improve their skills, deepen their understanding, and develop strategic thinking! In these personalized sessions, we will focus on areas that best support the student's growth in chess, whether they are beginners learning the basics or advanced players refining their strategies. I offer lessons in English, French, and Mandarin, so students can learn in the language they are most comfortable with or if they wish to practice these languages. What We Cover: ✔ Chess Fundamentals – Rules, piece movement, and basic strategy ✔ Openings & Middlegame Plans – Learn effective openings and how to build a strong position ✔ Tactics & Endgame Mastery – Improve calculation, pattern recognition, and checkmating skills ✔ Game Analysis – Review past games to identify strengths and areas for improvement ✔ Visualization & Strategic Thinking – Train the mind to see moves ahead and anticipate opponents' plans If a student has a specific area of focus—whether it's preparing for a tournament, improving against a particular opponent, or mastering a specific opening—I will tailor each lesson accordingly. My goal is to help students acquire the tools to develop their own study plans. This means that my teaching method revolves around developing goals, identifying the types of information, organizing the newly acquired information, finding similarities between tasks, and developing specific sequence of steps for them. I also use a lot of visualization with my students. In addition, I like to incorporate psychology in my classes by explaining the studies and theories behind the learning process. I think it is important for students to understand the mechanism of learning so that they can become independent learners. I also offer customized lessons beyond chess! If parents would like to incorporate other subjects or learning goals, I’m happy to adapt the sessions to individual needs. Just reach out, and we can create a plan that works best for your child. If you have any questions or scheduling requests, feel free to reach out. I look forward to helping your child grow in chess! Warmly, Louisa ♟️
