Does your child know how to play chess? Did your child take my Chessspired courses and want to hone in on their chess skills? If so, this course is for your child. Chess enhances content knowledge, reading comprehension, math skills, and provides skills for children to think and plan strategically. Children will review basic chess play, structure, and function of the pieces by way of live teacher demonstration, chat and chess board play using official teacher chess set. Live group chess games will be played during each session. I have fine-tuned my chess teaching method to construct an easy and fun way for children to experience chess. Class will include: 1. Critical thinking skills 2. Many uses of Chess 3. Rules and information about playing Chess 4. Intermediate Chess skills (castling, forks, and openings) Structure of the course: This is a low stress fun chess course. Children will have fun playing a great game.

This is my 27th year as an elementary teacher and course instructor. In addition, I teach various electives and chess courses for children at a local university. Over the years, I have presented at several conferences and local seminars. I hold a B.S. in Elementary Education and a MLIS degree. In 2011, I obtained my principal certification.
Chess Instruction:
I have taught students and teachers chess basics via online and face-to-face classes. I will bring my knowledge and love of the game to each class. Your child will become a better chess player.
