What's included
2 live meetings
2 in-class hoursHomework
1 hour per week. There will be homework after the first class. The students will bake the macarons at 275 degrees F, for 17-20 minutes, or until they easily lift off of the parchment paper.Class Experience
In this super fun, interactive baking class, students will learn to bake French Macarons from scratch! On day one, students will gather the ingredients and follow step by step instructions from the teacher to mix the ingredients, pipe the batter, and set them for a period of time to harden. These cookies take time and patience, so on day 1 class will be 1hr and 10 minutes long (70 minutes total). The students' homework on day 1 will be to bake their macaron shells, and let them cool until day 2! Day 2 is much simpler as the students will be making the filling for their cookies, they will assemble them, then decorate them!! This doesn’t take as long as the macaroni shells, so student can expect day 2 class to end around 40 minutes. The total class time for the week will be 110 minutes, or 1 hour and 50 minutes. Students will need some supplies for this class, such as the ingredient list below, an electric or stand mixer, and piping tools (but I have some great, cost-efficient hacks for those!). The students will learn the process of making these French Macarons, and some of the variables that cause them to either turn out PERFECTO or not-so-perfecto. While having fun and experimenting in the kitchen is great, safety is first. We will be using the oven in this class. Please be sure to provide baking mittens or pot holders for your child. The use of a kitchen towel to grab hot equipment is NOT recommended. Adult supervision is appreciated if you feel your child will need it. These cookies are ALMOND based, so if your child has an almond allergy, I do not recommend this class for them. You CANNOT replace the almond flour with any kind of wheat flour, but could possibly replace with a different nut flour. Now, let's get to baking!
Learning Goals
Students will learn valuable baking skills, and they will learn to make these French cookies from scratch!
