Prepare to Read With Phonics in 13 Weeks (Level 0 Reading)

PREPARE TO READ IN 13 WEEKS (LEVEL 0)

This fun and friendly weekly class will get learners ready for reading.  Learners will learn their letter sounds and begin to put them together to make simple sounds through books, games, quizzes, videos, worksheets and much more!

WHY IS READING IMPORTANT?
Reading is necessary for learning so instilling a love of reading at an early age is the key that unlocks the door to lifelong learning.  Reading aloud presents books as sources of pleasant, entertaining, and exciting formative experiences for children to remember.  Instilling a love of reading early gives a child a head start on expanding their vocabulary, and building independence and self-confidence. It helps children learn to make sense, not only of the world around them, but also of people, building social-emotional skills and of course, imagination.

Reading exposes us to other styles, other voices, other forms, and other genres of writing.  Not only that, but reading is a critical foundation for developing logic and problem-solving skills

HOW DO WE TEACH READING AT 'LEARNING WITH LOVE'?
The United Kingdom leads the way in systematic methods for teaching children to read.  Rather than just learning to sight read words, children are encouraged to use a method called synthetic phonics so that they can begin to read with only a very basic knowledge of letter sounds.  This method has shown to be very motivating for children as they make very quick progress and are able to read words in a matter of weeks.

OUR READING PROGRAMME
Our classes are designed by a teacher with over 25 years classroom experience and a UK Masters Degree in Literacy Education, focusing on teaching children to read.  They are delivered by UK qualified teachers with many years’ experience of teaching reading in the classroom.  Our resources are well-designed, colourful and engaging for the children.

In each lesson we will focus on learning two letter sounds through fun stories and activities.  Learners will also get an activity booklet to reinforce this learning at home after class.  Most children will be confidently using all letter sounds at the end of the 13 week cycle and will be ready to start to read simple 3 letter words in our Level 1 class.

IS THIS CLASS SUITABLE FOR YOUR CHILD? 
This class is a Level 0 Reading Class.  It is suitable for learners who are not yet confident with their letter sounds. Each lesson we will focus on 2 new letter sounds, getting ready to start putting them together to form simple words. 

Once your child knows all of their letter sounds, then the 'Begin to Read - Learn Your Letter Blends (Level 1)  ’ class might be more suitable.

If you feel that the Level you are enrolled on is not suitable for your child then please let me know and I can transfer you to a more suitable Level.  Teachers may also make recommendation to parents if they feel a child is enrolled on the wrong Level for them to make good progress.

The class will repeat on a loop every 13 weeks and can be joined at any time.  When your child is happy and confident with all their letter sounds then they can move onto the next class - Learn To Read in 12 Weeks (Level 1)
