This exciting weekly course covers a complete science academic curriculum in a fun and interactive way. Learners will become immersed in the wonders of life through fascinating facts, videos, quizzes, experiments, art and craft, worksheets and much more. Each week, learners will complete an activity together in class as we explore the wonderful world of science together and they will be given a factfile page to print off which can gradually build up into a science encyclopaedia of knowledge. There is also an optional extra activity that can be completed at home to consolidate their learning. Science is a part of our daily life. Everything we do and deal with in life is science, from cooking to watching a rainstorm. Understanding science helps learners to appreciate and relate to the world around them. It teaches them more than just the basics of geology, biology, physics and chemistry. Science helps learners develop key life skills, including an ability to communicate, remain organised and focused, and even form their own opinions based on observation. Scientists are an important part of the future of our world. Without them we would not be able to predict the weather or earthquakes, understand global warming, cure illnesses or have many of the products that enhance our lifestyles today. Learning to love science at a young age can be the first step towards a rewarding future career. Whether your learner is home schooled or you would just like them to explore a broader curriculum than most schools offer, this course will take them on an epic journey of amazing amphibians, remarkable reptiles and the brilliant life of bees through to exploring how our bodies move, making our own electric circuits and much more! My goal is to inspire them to become lifetime learners with a thirst for knowledge. They will have the opportunity to develop their skills in understanding, communicating, empathising and analysing at an age appropriate level. Learners are welcome to join any topic that is of particular interest or stay for a longer period of time to cover a full science curriculum. What is covered in this course? All of our courses and resources are designed by a qualified educational curriculum manager who has many years of experience in developing curricula for prestigious educational establishments. Between us, we have worked in schools in the most deprived countries and areas through to those in the most affluent, experiencing a wealth of culture and great diversity. Every experience has taught us valuable lessons in how children best succeed.
Learning Goals
- to broaden their scientific view of the world around them.
- to explore, talk about, test and develop ideas about everyday phenomena and the relationships between living things and familiar environments.
- to ask their own questions about what they observe and make some decisions about which types of scientific enquiry are likely to be the best ways of answering them, including observing changes over time, noticing patterns, grouping and classifying things, carrying out simple comparative and fair tests and finding things out using secondary sources of information.
- to draw conclusions and use scientific language, first, to talk about and, later, to write about what they have found out.
