Beginner Level
This is a course designed specifically for high school students to introduce the principles and practices of positive psychology. Positive psychology offers insights and techniques for enhancing well-being, resilience, and personal growth. Throughout this course, students will explore a range of topics including strengths and virtues, mindfulness, gratitude, positive relationships, goal setting, and resilience. Through interactive discussions, experiential activities, mindfulness practices, and self-reflection exercises, students will develop practical skills to navigate the challenges of adolescence and cultivate a flourishing life. Key Topics Covered: Week 1 1-Introduction to Positive Psychology: Understanding the science of happiness and well-being. 2-Strengths and Virtues: Identifying personal strengths and leveraging them for success and fulfillment. Week 2 3-Mindfulness and Self-awareness: Techniques for managing stress, increasing focus, and enhancing emotional intelligence. Week 3 4-Gratitude and Positive Thinking: Cultivating a mindset of gratitude and optimism for greater resilience. 5-Building Positive Relationships: Developing effective communication, empathy, and conflict resolution skills. Week 4 6-Goal Setting and Growth Mindset: Setting meaningful goals and embracing challenges as opportunities for growth. Resilience and Self-compassion: Strategies for bouncing back from setbacks and practicing self-care. Slides with lecture, video clips, and discussion will fuel this class.
Learning Goals
By the end of this course, students will:
Begin to understand the core principles of positive psychology and their relevance to their lives.
Learn to cultivate self-awareness, emotional regulation, and mindfulness skills for well-being.
Foster positive relationships and communication skills for healthy social interactions.
Learn how to develop resilience, optimism, and a growth mindset to navigate challenges effectively
Apply gratitude, positive thinking, and self-compassion in their daily lives to promote mental health and happiness.

Parental Guidance
Spirituality may be discussed as it pertains to research in the field of positive psychology. No specific point of view or religion will be endorsed.
Some YouTube videos and TEDtalks will be reviewed and any read articles will be provided.
Supply List
For optional assignments students may utilize word processing, graphic organizing, art, video per their preference and availability.
