In this one-time class, students will practice how to read and spell CVC (short vowel) words and syllables using a hands-on, multi-sensory approach. This class is a preview of my Phonics Fun in First: Level 1 - Short Vowels Ongoing Class.
Class experience
In this class, students will be introduced to CVC words through phonemic awareness (listening to the sounds in the words) and phonics (connecting the sounds to letters). We will practice sounding out, reading, and spelling CVC words through movement, sensory experiences, drawing, and word-mapping. I will teach these skills through modeling, letting students practice independently, and having students share their ideas with the class. Students should be able to identify letter names and sounds...
