In this 4 week course, students will learn how to create persuasive writing pieces from opinions and ideas, as they discover the different purposes and uses of persuasive writing, including how to write a letter (both friendly and formal.)
Class experience
US Grade 2 - 5
Students in this class already have a strong understanding of writing a cohesive paragraph using complete sentences to express an idea or tell a story. These students may already be familiar with writing a narrative and using varied sentence structure to help their writing flow more smoothly. In this Persuasive Writing course, we will first define what persuasive writing is, and identify it’s various uses. Students will discover how to write persuasively, as well as who they can persuade....
I have a Masters degree in Elementary Education, years of experience teaching 2nd and 3rd grade in the classroom, and years of successful experience teaching language arts and ESL on line to more than 1,000 students of varying ages. I have a passion for teaching, and a love of writing, reading, and adventuring with my family in my free time.
Homework Offered
Students may occasionally be asked to complete classroom assignments outside of class. Students will be asked to mail a friendly letter with the help and permission of a grown up.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

Students will be asked to mail a friendly letter to a friend or family member with the help and permission of a grown up once we complete the letter in class. Due to safety measures, students are not permitted to exchange addresses or any other personal information with classmates or teachers on the Outschool platform. Letter recipients must be from outside the classroom.
