Intermediate Level
This is part 1 of an intensive writing course that will take your student through an entire school year exploring narative, formal letters, descriptions, how-to articles, persuasive writing, creative writing and expository writing in a small group setting. Class will include instruction in the various types of writing, writing process from brainstorming to publishing. An opportunity to practice public speaking skills will given at the end of each writing project. Student participation is an integral part of this course and teacher will encourage each student to share their ideas with their classmates. Teacher will work closely with students to help them improve their writing skills. The 28 week class is divided into 4 parts to give parents the option of chosing specific types of writing they wish their child to practice. This class is designed to be meet twice per and for a period of 5 week and is eligible for the weekly pay option. Part 1 Week 1 Lesson 1: What Makes a Good Personal Narrative? Lesson 2: Introduction, Body, Conclusion Week 2 Lesson 1: Using Time Lines Lesson 2: Using Exact Words Week 3 Lesson 1: Contractions/Informal vs Formal Writing Lesson 2: Prewriting/Drafting Week 4 Lesson 1: Editing and Revising Lesson 2: Proofreading/Proofreading Marks Week 5 Lesson 1: Publishing Class Lesson 2: Sharing/Peer Praise

Supply List
Student needs one spiral notebook or composition book for daily use and another one for publishing their work. Student needs pencil for each class. Additional supplies may be listed in class notes for specific classes.
