US Grade 4 - 7
In this on-going writing workshop, students will practice writing persuasive, narrative and descriptive writing pieces using high interest themed ideas and writing prompts. Each week the students will have a mini-lesson in order to develop their writing skills, and then they will be provided with a variety of writing prompts in order to practice the skills they have learned in class. Each class will also include a fun, interactive quiz-style game to help reinforce the new writing skills learned in our mini-lesson! Teaching creative writing and writing skills is my passion. Team this passion up with my students’ passion for various high interest themes and topics and we've got a winning combination! Students will be encouraged, but never forced, to share their writing with the class. Week 1: Theme 1: How to convince your readers: Writing a persuasive text using phenomenal argumentative words and phrases! In this class, students will be given argumentative writing prompts to write an argumentative text about a topic that they are passionate about! Week 2: Theme 2: Using imagery and descriptive writing to make your writing come alive! In this class, students will learn how to use figurative language along with phenomenal adjectives and adverbs to make their writing 'pop' off of the page! Week 3: Theme 3: Using different points of view to write a narrative text. In this class, students will learn how to use first person, second person, and third person point of view in order to write a narrative text. Week 4: Theme 4: Make your setting come to life. In this class, students will learn how to use figurative language, imagery and descriptive writing to create a vibrant setting that their readers will be able to see, touch, taste, hear and smell!

I am legally certified to teach Kindergarten to Grade 12 in both the provinces of British Columbia, and Quebec, Canada. I take pride in helping my students learn to express themselves through the art of writing. I also have a passion for teaching poetry. As a mother of three teenage daughters, I absolutely understand the very real anxiety and self-doubt so many of our children are battling. I truly believe that the act of writing can be a wonderful outlet for evacuating stress and negative emotions. Another one of my passions is teaching public speaking and debate skills! I strive to create classes for my students that are exciting, interactive, and fun!
