CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.NBT.B.5 Students will build fluency adding and subtracting within 100 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.OA.A.1 Students will use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.NBT.B.9 Students will be able to explain why addition and subtraction strategies work, using place value and the properties of operations. Students will understand and apply a variety of addition and subtraction strategies with precision. Students will be able to show and explain their mathematical thinking using correct math vocabulary. Students will examine mathematical strategies for effectiveness, accuracy and efficiency.
Learners may wish to bring materials to practice with in class such as paper/writing utensil or whiteboard/marker. The teacher will post in the classroom prior to class if any specific materials are required for the lesson (such as a printed worksheet).
