- Class introduction: as students are joining the class, we will welcome each other and prepare for the class. - This session will introduce students to the order of operations in problem solving equations. - This is an introductory to order of operations so exponents will not included (further classes for review). The class will focus in detail how to approach problems step by step and order operations to solve: multiplication, division, addition and subtraction. - Students will implement the PEMDAS acronym strategy to help them remember the order in which the problem is to be solved. (Students are expected to know how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide prior to taking this class). I will display a virtual interactive whiteboard on Whiteboard.fi where students will work out problems on their own board (screen or other device available), where no other students can see their work for independence. I will model instruction/strategies reviewed and take turns joining student boards to assist each student with solving problems. Note: The program Whiteboard.fi doesn't cost any extra to parents because it is free to use with Google account. Badge: #academia
