𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰: Foundations of Orchestral Conducting is an extensive program designed to provide aspiring conductors with the fundamental skills and knowledge necessary to lead orchestral ensembles effectively. Throughout this comprehensive twelve-week course, students will delve into various aspects of conducting, ranging from basic techniques to intricate orchestral score interpretation. With a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical exercises, students will develop a deep understanding of the art of conducting and orchestral leadership. Upon completion, the next class would be 𝐎𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥: 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟏 (𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐝) This course builds upon the foundational knowledge acquired in the beginner course and challenges students to refine their conducting skills, interpretation abilities, and adaptability. Students will have the opportunity to tackle more complex repertoire, explore contemporary music, and collaborate with guest musicians, preparing them for more advanced roles in orchestral conducting.

Learners will review conducting basics before progressing to advanced conducting posture and hand positions. They will also engage in a discussion about the vital role of the conductor in an orchestra, deepening their understanding of leadership and responsibility within an ensemble.
Lesson 2:
𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠
Learners will conduct an in-depth analysis of a complex orchestral score, focusing on identifying key themes, motifs, and structural elements. They will explore how to interpret the score and make informed conducting choices, enhancing their ability to lead an orchestra with insight and precision.
Lesson 3:
𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬
Learners will study compound meters and complex rhythms, focusing on conducting patterns in 6/8, 9/8, and 12/8 time signatures. They will also develop advanced cueing techniques to manage intricate rhythms and transitions, further refining their conducting skills.
Lesson 4:
𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
Learners will explore different interpretations of the same piece, learning how to convey their unique artistic vision through conducting. They will also discuss the historical and cultural context of a composition, gaining a deeper understanding of how these factors influence musical interpretation and performance.
