✨️ Join us at anytime! No experience necessary. ✨️ Students ages 7-10 will have a blast learning beginner vocabulary and conversational Spanish! As an ongoing class, meeting one time per week, concepts will be taught through repetition, practice conversations, interactive slides, video clips, games, and hands on activities. For elementary students, learning Spanish is more than just acquiring a new skill—it's an adventure that opens doors to new cultures, perspectives, and opportunities. My approach to teaching Spanish is designed to be engaging, interactive, and tailored to the developmental needs of young learners. In my classroom, we begin interacting in the target language right away, gradually increasing the student's confidence through listening, speaking, reading, and writing exercises. Each student will be able to repeat vocabulary covered to ensure proper pronunciation and understanding. Each class will introduce a new beginner topic in Spanish and can be a stand alone class. Learners may come and go as their schedule allows, as long as there are available spaces upon enrollment. Classes will cycle every 10 weeks, so feel free to join at any time! This class is Part 2 of a 3 part series (classes in this series can be taken in any order). Printables and resources will be posted in the classroom at the beginning of each week. Optional homework and extra practice are available. No prior Spanish knowledge is necessary. The engaging curriculum is designed to fit the needs of the elementary beginner Spanish student. Vocabulary and sentence structure presented is both practical and useful for real world conversations. The small group class setting fosters a positive, encouraging, and collaborative learning environment. Our content promotes cultural awareness and appreciation. Give your child the foundation necessary to be a successful second language learner ¡Aprendamos juntos! Let's learn together! 🌎 📚 Classes follow the following format: ✏️ Pregunta del día (Question of the Day): 5-10 minute icebreaker to get students listening and responding in simple Spanish, all while getting to know one another. ✏️ Vocabulary and Grammar Instruction: 15-20 minute topical lesson, presented through interactive slides and fun visuals. ✏️ Game or Hands-on Activity: 15-20 minute game, worksheet, or activity to reinforce and apply newly learned concepts in a collaborative, positive environment. Week 1: (March 17-21, April 7-11) Around the Classroom 📓 This week's lesson will center on school supplies around the classroom in Spanish. The words for student, teacher, classroom, and school will also be covered. We will complete an on screen quiz and a fun, hands-on "What's in My Backpack?" pictionary activity! Week 2: (March 31-April 4, April 14-18) Clothing 👕 In our lesson this week, we will learn various names of items of clothing in Spanish through an interactive scavenger hunt and "Buzzer Beater" memory game. Students will describe their own clothing by saying, "I am wearing _____." We will also learn the sentence, "I put on my _____." (jacket, socks, jeans, shirt, etc) Week 3: (April 7-11, April 21-25) Shapes 🟣 This week we will learn the names of various shapes (rectangle, circle, square, heart, star, oval, etc) in Spanish. Try to stump Maestra Ellie by playing "Guess the Shape" and follow a directed drawing to reveal a shape surprise. Week 4: (April 14-18, April 28-May 2) Community Helpers👷♀️ This week we will focus on vocabulary and sentence structure related to community helpers (professions and careers, such as firefighter, teacher, doctor, farmer, builder, etc) in Spanish. Learners will team up to play the game, "Who Am I?" and wrap up class with a "When I Grow Up" drawing and writing activity! Week 5: (April 21-25, May 5-9) Around the House 🏡 This week's lesson will center on rooms and objects around the house (bathroom, kitchen, living room, table, door, window, etc) in Spanish, as well as the phrase, "Dónde ésta ...?" ("Where is...?"). We will learn through interactive slides, as well as a "Create Your Own House" worksheet. Week 6: (April 28-May 2, May 12-16) Manners 💬 In our lesson this week, we will learn to use good manners (please, thank you, you're welcome, excuse me, I'm sorry, etc) in Spanish through repetition, question and answer, on screen practice scenarios, and a manners board game! Week 7: (May 5-9, May 19-23) Animals 🦁 This week we will learn the names of various animals (lion, bear, zebra, elephant, shark, whale, cat, dog, fish, horse, pig, cow, etc.) in Spanish through a "Pass the Ball" activity, sorting animals by habitat (farm animals, household pets, ocean life, wild animals), and true/false game with interactive slides. Week 8: (May 12-16, May 26-30) Daily Routines ⏰️ This week we will focus on vocabulary and sentence structure related to daily routines (I wake up, I get dressed, I brush my teeth, I go to school, I play with my friends, I eat dinner, etc) in Spanish through fun visual aids, matching worksheet, and "Create a Comic" routine handout. Week 9: (May 19-23, June 2-6) Places Around Town 🏥 This week's lesson will center on places around town (bank, school, post office, supermarket, restaurant, park, library, etc.) in Spanish, as well as the phrase, "Voy a/al..." ("I am going to..."). We will explore the city with an on screen quiz, followed by a hands-on "Follow the Map" activity. Week 10: (May 26-30, June 9-13) Hobbies and Interests 🎮 In our last week's lesson, we will learn all about common hobbies and interests (singing, reading, playing an instrument, fishing, swimming, playing sports, dancing, etc) in Spanish, as well as the phrases, "Me gusta..." ("I like...") and "Yo puedo..." ("I can..."). Students will sort hobbies on screen into two categories: Things I Like to Do and Things I Can Do by spinning the Wheel of Hobbies!

Students will learn vocabulary and sentence structure related to basic concepts in the target language, while building confidence in their listening, reading, and speaking abilities.
