Class Experience

This is a one-time "trial lesson" for students who are considering joining my ongoing lessons.

I accept students of all skill levels, including those who are brand new to guitar, as well as those with previous guitar experience who are looking to make a big improvement.

I tailor lessons according to each individual student and his or her current skill level. Beginner students will receive a big focus on proper technique right from the start, whereas with experienced students, I will help correct problems and give much needed direction for improvement. My students are also encouraged to express their own musical creativity and to explore their “personal favorite” musical genres.

And while I believe that learning new songs and exploring creativity are an essential part of lessons, I know that for most students, the feeling of making progress is one of the greatest rewards. Learning the guitar is fun, but getting really GOOD at guitar is even MORE fun!
That's why I incorporate musical play-along tracks that maximize lessons and accelerate student progress. I provide custom “practice tracks” quickly build important guitar skills like rhythm, timing, speed, and technique – and most importantly – they really are rewarding and fun!
Learning Goals
Appropriate learning goals in music always depend upon child’s experience, skill level, and interests. All students will learn important guitar concepts such as chords, melodies, riffs, soloing, correct fingering, and strumming techniques. Students will also learn how to read guitar music and learn songs using Guitar Tablature, which is the world standard for reading music on guitar. Upon request, I also teach music theory, standard music notation, improvisation/jamming, and singing along while playing guitar.
