**Let me know if there is a particular skill or time you would like to schedule, and I will do my best to accommodate it. **I also assist with homework. This is a personalized math class designed for students who need additional support, want to improve their skills, or are looking to advance beyond their current level of math. During the class, students will review the common core math standards for their grade level and work on improving any areas where they may be struggling. They will also have the opportunity to complete any missing math skills and progress to the next level of math as they continue to improve. Welcome to an amazing class that will help you build your foundational skills, enrich your knowledge, and master test-taking skills! We're excited to begin this journey with you and help you achieve your goals. We'll start by assessing your current skills level and identifying any gaps that need to be filled. Once we've identified those areas, we'll dive right in and begin working on the common core standards you need to master. This includes everything from addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, geometry, algebra, and more! Each class will be packed with excitement and learning opportunities. We'll start by reviewing the previous lesson, then introduce the day's lesson and dive right in with modeling and independent practice. We'll end the class with a short assessment to make sure you've mastered the skill we've been working on. You'll have access to tons of amazing resources, including PowerPoint lessons and YouTube videos that we'll screen share during class. You'll also receive a folder that contains all the materials you need to succeed in class. Our classes are designed to keep you engaged and excited about learning. Each class will last 55 minutes and will include an introduction, mentor-writing examples, a mini-lesson, independent practice, and a review of the skills we've covered. Get ready to embark on an exciting learning journey and take your skills to the next level! MATERIALS/LESSONS: During the lesson, a PowerPoint presentation is utilized and shared on screen. Additionally, any relevant YouTube videos are also shared with the class. There is no requirement for learners to have a subscription to any websites used during the lesson. Physical materials Notebook, pencil, download materials as necessary for each class, PARTICIPATION In my classes, I promote interaction and encourage movement by engaging in discussions. It's important to ensure that your learners have ample space to move around. During the class, I aim to involve each learner by asking questions and seeking their opinions on the topic. The ultimate goal is to make learning an enjoyable experience for every learner. MUTING: I always aim to encourage participation from the students who take my classes. Although I normally prefer to keep everyone unmuted, I'm also aware that background noise can sometimes be unavoidable. As a parent myself, I understand that there may be times when you need to mute your child, and I'm happy for you to do so if necessary. However, there may also be occasions when I need to mute a student. If there's background noise that might distract other students in the class, I'll let the student know that I'm muting them to minimize the noise.. RECORDINGS: Each student will be asked to visually mark their attendance at the beginning of each class. They can turn off their camera afterward except to show their work. Some students can be visual except through Outschool Safety and Security. Recordings are not automatically shown in the classroom. I like to create a safe, open space for students to be themselves and want them to be as interactive as possible. The recordings are automatically created and attached to my class. If you have trouble accessing them, please let me know and I will help you. SCHEDULE DAY: 55 minutes Intro/Discussion 10 minutes Demonstration 20 minutes Student work time: 20 minutes Review: 5 minutes Math skills for older students: Your child will acquire arithmetic skills, such as math facts and long division, as well as advanced concepts of arithmetic while getting ready for pre-algebra. In all math areas, both numerical and word problems, your child will enhance their skills. Number System Your child will learn to solve advanced long arithmetic problems by hand, such as dividing multi-digit numbers. He or she will also learn how to factor numbers and find the greatest common factor or least common multiple of a pair of numbers. Your child will also do work with number lines and basic graphing. Expressions and Equations IAs a preparation for pre-algebra, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of expressions and equations. This will include understanding the concept of variables and the order of operations. Depending on your child's proficiency, I may assign simple equations like 5+x=7 and teach them the steps to solve the problem. Ratios and proportions can be challenging for students since they are new concepts. Your child will acquire the skills to write simple ratios to solve word problems. Lessons on ratios and proportions may also cover percentages and rates. Geometry In addition to preparing for pre-algebra, your child will learn some of the basics of geometry in preparation for middle school geometry. Most math for older students in geometry involves the study of shapes, such as right triangles and rectangular prisms. Your child will learn how to find area, volume, and perimeter and will also learn how to draw shapes or polygons on a coordinate plane. Statistics and Probability Statistics and probability lessons can be a fun part of math because they often involve hands-on experiments and surveys. Your child will learn to assemble a set of data and look at the distribution. This may include finding the mean, median, and mode.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their Math skills, according to the common core standards. In addition, the class will provide enrichment for students or assistance in test-taking skills.

Master's Degree in Education from University of Phoenix
I am a licensed elementary school teacher in the state of Texas. I have a master's in Curriculum and Ed.S in Educational Technology. I have lived and worked as a teacher in Virginia, Louisiana, Texas, Minnesota, and Colorado. In each state, I was a licensed/certified elementary/middle school teacher. In addition to working with elementary and middle school teachers, I have worked for several years as a special education teacher and online ESL and private teacher. In public schools, I specialized as a teacher by working with students who had severe physical, mental, and cognitive issues. Also, I worked with students who had severe Autism and who were also diagnosed with High Functional Asperger’s. Currently, I work online as an English Language teacher, writer, and teacher trainer. My two favorite historical figures are Abraham Lincoln and Malcolm X because each person never allowed failure to stop them from their eventual success as a person. My passion is to work with students in small groups and individuals who require scaffolding instruction to be successful. In addition, I love to teach a variety of courses and have a variety of interests that I want to share with my students. I love to teach project-based courses that incorporate reading, writing, math, and technology skills in relation to history and cultural awareness. In addition to working as a specialized teacher, I have been an elementary, middle school, and 9-10th grade teacher. In elementary I taught all of the subjects and worked primarily in grades Preschool, grades 3-6 where I taught Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. In middle school and high school, I worked as a social studies teacher.
I love learning! I am in graduate school and attend many workshops. I have completed my Educational Specialist degree in Educational technology, my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction, my Bachelor of Arts in Specials Education, and my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I also have an Associate degree in Early Childhood and a TESOL in English as a Second Language. I attend many workshops and have received my certifications as a Language teacher (Phonics, English as a Second Language, Language-based Disabilities).
In addition to working for Outschool, I have a business “Michelle’s Innovations” and provide services as an

As a public school teacher, I received training in multi subjects, including science, writing, reading, math, and geography. As a result, I also taught children from PreK- to 8th grade in the above subjects. My certifications have included these areas, as well as a resource, teaching, and ESL. My favorite subjects have always been science, reading, writing, and geography, so I have been fortunate in that I have been able to teach these subjects to students who are extremely interested in these areas. As an elementary teacher, I taught multiple subjects including science and math. I taught life cycles many times during my time as a Preschool, 3rd to the 6th-grade teacher.
My husband is a retired Navy person and we have lived in many different parts of the United States of America. In addition, my own family has lived in Europe where my Dad worked as a teacher. I love to share and believe that we are a global community that needs to live together.
