In this five part math class, you can pick and choose which classes you would like. All classes will cover the standards for Pre-K through 2nd grade from NCTM (National Council for Teachers of Mathematics). In this first part we will start with Numbers and Operations. We will talk about a number, number word and numeral. Basic concepts such as sequence of number words, one to one correspondence and cardinality. Math Operations they will compare two groups of objects, compare by counting or matching and understand that adding or taking away from a group will increase or decrease the number of objects in the group. The children will interact through live video and participate in math activities. When working with this age it is important to be flexible, meaning, if we need to take a break and move around I will adapt my lesson accordingly.
Learning Goals
Connect number word and numerals to the quantities they represent.
Understand various meanings of addition and subraction of whole numbers and the relationship between the two operations.
