This is an ongoing class, so you can join at any time!  The goal of the class is to increase students' ability to name the letters and to know the basic sounds of the letters.  We will practice both long and short sounds for the vowels.  This class is meant for students who have no experience with the alphabet up to students who know many letters and sounds.  I will differentiate the course as much as possible based on the learners in the classroom.

Each class will center on an alphabet book, so even though there will be target letters for each lesson, students will be exposed to every letter during the lesson.  Each target letter will be introduced using charming poems and a non-fiction passage about an animal.  Each lesson will also use songs and games to help students remember the letter names and sounds.  Students are free to join at any time as the classes will not build on each other.  Students are also free to repeat the lessons.  I've used all of these stories, poems, chants and games in a kindergarten class, and students are always begging to repeat them!

After each lesson, a practice page featuring the letter and poem will be uploaded.  This optional page will also give students an opportunity to draw one of the words that starts with the letter and practice tracing the letter.  I will also upload flashcards that match the poem so that parents can use the flash cards to continue the practice.  By the end of 8 lessons, you will have a complete set of flashcards!
