Students will engage with words using sight, sound, touch, and movement, strengthening their memory and retention. _____________________________________________________________________ 🌿 What Makes This Class Unique? ✔ Multi-Sensory Instruction: Learners will see, hear, build, and write words to reinforce spelling and phonics skills. ✔ Nature-Inspired Learning: Lessons incorporate earthy themes (e.g., plant growth, weather patterns, animals) to make phonics more engaging. ✔ Orton-Gillingham Strategies: A structured, explicit, and systematic approach to phonemic awareness, syllable division, and spelling rules. ✔ High-Interest & Gamified Practice: Activities include virtual nature hunts, interactive spelling games, and writing adventures. ✔ Supportive & Confidence-Building: Teacher provides a risk-free environment, repeated practice, and encouragement for learners to grow at their own pace. __________________________________________________________________ This class uses Classkick and Blooket in addition to Zoom. Students will be most successful if they use two devices (laptop and phone). Each week students will receive a code in the classroom to login to Classkick. Teacher expertise and credentials
Florida Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hi, I’m Ashlynn! I’m a licensed elementary educator with 14+ years of experience teaching both in the classroom and online. I hold endorsements in Reading K-12 and ESOL and am currently training to earn my Dyslexia certification to better support struggling readers. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with dyslexic, autistic, ADHD, and ESL learners, helping them build confidence and a love for learning through engaging, multi-sensory instruction.
I bring energy, patience, and interactive activities to every class, using games, movement-based learning, and hands-on experiences to make reading fun and effective. My passion for literacy is deeply personal—I believe every child deserves the tools to succeed.
Beyond teaching, I love all things homesteading! Spending time at my grandparents' farms, I learned to grow food, can fresh food, sew, and bake from scratch—skills I still cherish today. And when I’m not in the classroom, you’ll find me digging in my gardening, cooking up a delicious meal, or exploring the outdoors with my husband and two boys.
A fun fact about me: My favorite Disney movie is “Beauty and the Beast.” (Oh…and yes, my dogs have Disney names!).
I can’t wait to meet you in class and help your child grow into a confident, joyful reader! 🚀📖
