Students will interact with me and their peers by talking through their headset or computer speakers. Students will learn about the parts that make up insects, and discover some of the primary forms each of those structures can take. Students will then take their handout (provided at enrollment) and choose from some of the variations we will learn about from each category to build (draw) their own unique bug. We will then learn about some of the amazing traits insects possess, discuss why those traits might come in handy. Students will then designate one of the learned about powers to their created insects and discuss what their insect could use that trait to do. The class will wrap up with questions based on the learning to ensure students have grasped the material.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their knowledge of the various parts of insects, how those structures can be different between the many insects in the world, and what purpose the different body parts serve. Students will also touch on some of the amazing things insects are capable of.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I believe insects are among the most fascinating animals in the whole world. They are numerous and tough enough to last through all the ages. I enjoy discovering and learning about insects I have never heard of before and seeing just what they are capable of. This lesson has come to be one of my favorite to teach. I have taught the same lesson more than once to both of my older children as well as to several co-op classes. This online format gives me a whole new set of eager learners and insect lovers to share my passion with.
